POPS Worldwide hosts economic and political delegation led by San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee

March 7, 2017 – Ho Chi Minh City: During the visit, Edwin Lee came to POPS Worldwide’s corporate offices and meet Ms. Esther Nguyen, founder and CEO of POPS Worldwide. Mayor Lee was in Ho Chi Minh City leading a delegation of civic and business leaders from San Francisco and to strengthen economic relations between San Francisco and Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Nguyen expressed her great pleasure to be chosen as the destination of the mayor and to discuss POPS Worldwide’s impact and exponential growth story. Ms. Nguyen shared about the history of POPS, its initial reasons for foundation and the initial difficulties in changing the perception of the Vietnamese music industry when the copyright protection of entertainment content was still new. At the same time, Esther also expressed pride that after 10 years on the market, POPS Worldwide has become one of the leading digital entertainment companies in Southeast Asia. Currently, POPS Worldwide operates in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Bangkok catering to both domestic and international audiences around the world.

POPS Worldwide was chosen for Mayor Lee’s visit because of Esther Nguyen’s long ties to the San Francisco Bay region. Esther was born and raised in a Northern California city area surrounding San Francisco. POPS Worldwide has a special relationship with the Bay Area, drawing on Silicon Valley veterans for investors, board members and trusted advisors. After obtaining her BS from the University of Southern California and her JD from Golden Gate University School of Law, Esther spent time launching several startups in Silicon Valley before returning to Vietnam to found POPS Worldwide in 2007.
