POPS INTRODUCES THE FIRST-EVER DIGITAL RELEASE OF DORAEMON’S COLOR COMICS IN VIETNAM

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – The POPS App will be the first platform in Vietnam to release the Digital Color version of Doraemon comic online on December 1, 2023, marking a significant milestone on the 90th birthday celebration of author Fujiko F. Fujio.

Mr. Fabien Lotz – COO of POPS, who has been passionately involved in this project for over two years, shared: “POPS have been involved in Doraemon since 2017 when we released Doraemon TV series  on POPS Kids, for the enchantment of all Vietnamese kids and their parents. Doraemon is such a trans-generational icon for 3 decades it has built a fan base of children who became parents and are now introducing it to the new generation. Releasing the original comics in Vietnamese in digital format is also a testimony to the timeless attractiveness across media streams.

The Digital Color version of Doraemon comic will be available on the POPS App from December 1, 2023. Particularly, the POPS App has been enhanced to preserve the original version reading experience (swipe from left to right to read dialogues from right to left), offering a similar feel to reading traditional paper comics. This marks the first time POPS App is implementing a comic rental model, providing an affordable and high-quality reading experience. POPS also has a small gift for fans of Doraemon, as the first ten chapters are being released for free, and readers can choose to buy or rent subsequent volumes.

Vietnam holds a special place in Fujimoto’s heart, POPS hope this introduction of digital color comics will bring Doraemon even closer to the Vietnamese fans’ hearts, regardless of their location. Reading, purchasing or renting chapters will become more convenient than ever on POPS App, with the reading experience improved to retain the charm of the original manga.

The first-ever digital release of Doraemon’s Color Comics in Vietnam again emphasizes POPS’ goal and effort in continuing to license and maximize the potential and value of beloved works globally, and opening up many new experiences for viewers in the markets where POPS operates.
