POPS is set to expand into Indonesia, marking its latest move amidst aggressive expansion across Southeast Asia. As of September 19, 2020, POPS will begin its efforts to bring Indonesians the platform enjoyed by their regional neighbours in nearby Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore.
The expansion into the country begins with partnerships alongside Indonesia’s top talent. With the success of POPS’ multi-platform network in other countries across the region, POPS Indonesia will echo a similar model of talent recruitment, bringing its audience and brand partners best-in-class content solutions and entertainment. POPS Indonesia’s video-on-demand streaming service, POPS App, will go live early 2021, offering a new interactive digital experience fueled by hyper-local entertainment and fresh POPS originals ranging from music, animation, live-action and e-Sports content. POPS is confident that its unique combination of digital entertainment services will bode well in Indonesia, serving ripely into the demands one of the most robust markets globally.
To spearhead its operational, strategic development and growth in the country, POPS has appointed Zico Kemala Batin as Country Manager. With over 13 years of experience in the digital entertainment business, Zico has helped scale startups and major corporate enterprises including Universal Music Group, Tencent Mobility, and Alibaba. He has participated in developing, launching, and monetizing Joox in Indonesia as well as Alibaba’s acquisition and integration of UCWeb and its extensive online media across the country. Specializing in business development, strategic partnerships, sales, and a multitude of other skills that make him the perfect match for the role, Zico has built powerful connections across industries in Indonesia. POPS is expected to quickly grow and have a big impact on the market under his leadership.
